牛津和剑桥的申请截止日期早于标准的UCAS申请截止日期，是10月中旬。想要报考的学生一定要提早计划。

The application deadline for Oxford and Cambridge is earlier than the standard UCAS application deadline, which is mid-October. Students must be organised!

此外，在同一年，你不能同时申请这两所大学。除了选择专业，你还必须选择学院，在下决定前，你一定要做大量的研究。

Also, in the same year, you cannot apply for both universities at the same time. In addition to choosing a course of study, you must also choose a college within Oxford and Cambridge. Students must do lots of research to understand all of these application choices!

牛剑的竞争程度非比寻常，你必须对特定学科展示出极大的热情，付出努力才有可能突出重围。

Finally, competition is tough. Students must demonstrate hard work and determination but go the extra mile to show their genuine interest in one subject!

2019年1月中旬，我们的学生就接连收到了3份剑桥大学，2份牛津大学的offer。

Just over halfway through January 2019, three of our students received offers from the University of Cambridge and two of our students received offers from Oxford University. 

今天，我们要分享的是刚刚获得剑桥大学有条件录取的Gloria同学的故事。

Today, we want to share the story of Gloria, who has just been admitted to Cambridge!

一般来说，如果我想申请牛剑，就要在10月中旬提交UCAS申请。

此申请表包括成绩、课程和大学选择、一份教师推荐信以及一份个人陈述，这份陈述需要非常深入地说明你为什么希望在大学学习这门专业。

Generally, if I want to apply for Oxbridge, I will submit a UCAS application in mid-October. This application includes grades, courses and university choices, 1 teacher recommendation, and 1 personal statement explaining why you wish to study your subject at university. This needs to be very in depth. But my personal advisor and team helped me a lot here.

我想学经济学，这是我最喜欢的科目，我喜欢阅读经济类书籍，甚至还代表学校参加了一次经济学论文比赛哦。这些对我的申请都很重要，因为我有很多具体的经济学知识要讲！

I knew I wanted to study economics. It’s my favourite subject and I enjoy reading about it. I also participated in an economics paper competition on behalf of my school. All this was important to my applications as I had lots of specific economics knowledge to talk about!

一旦提交了申请，我必须填写一份在线补充申请问卷:SAQ和面试前的剑桥入学考试。

Once I submitted my application, I had to fill out an online supplementary application questionnaire: the SAQ and the Pre-Interview Cambridge Admissions Test.

答SAQ问卷之前，首先要弄清楚，填SAQ的目的。

比如我申请的是经济专业，那么面试官就会通过我递交的信息来设计专门的面试问题。

我的SAQ个人陈述需要更多的证据来说服学校给我offer。

The purpose of SAQ is to help Cambridge collect information. For example, if I apply for an economics course, the interviewer will design a special interview question through the information I submit. My SAQ personal statement needs more evidence to convince the school that they should give me an offer.

我和顾问、申请导师还有写作老师反复讨论，总结出了我最重要的经验。

My personal advisor, admissions coach, and writing specialists helped me to work on this. Because of our discussions, I was able to summarize my important experiences and write successfully.

前面都只是铺垫，我们还有一个全世界统一的剑桥入学笔试要参加，只有这个成绩达到标准，才有机会获得剑桥面试资格。

All of the above are essential preparation but before Cambridge offers interview invitation, students must participate in a Pre-Interview Cambridge Admission Test. Only when students meet admissions standards, will they have the opportunity to interview.

拿到剑桥大学的面试邀请算是在意料之中。毕竟，我在文书方面也是精雕细琢，呕心沥血的。

It was unexpected to get an interview invitation from Cambridge University. But I was very happy! I knew that my preparation until now had been worth it. But I still needed to work hard and prepare.

常言面试场如战场，半分懈怠不得，接下来，我来说说面试前的必要准备：

·了解面试官：试想一下面试官会问我什么，不断模拟面试场景。

·了解专业：比如说我选择了经济专业，我就要知道我为什么要来到这个学院，选择这门课程，我到底对这门学科有多大的热情，我想要利用经济改变什么吗？

·看以前的资料：翻看剑桥大学以前的面试资料也是有必要的。

·跳出固定思维：面试官总是在挑战学生，所以如果你想面对他们，强烈的批判性思维是必要的。

作为一个中国学生，其实在批判性思维方面，我承认自己是比较欠缺的，而提升这个能力也不是一朝一夕的事儿。

As a Chinese student, in terms of critical thinking, I admit that I am relatively lacking, and upgrading this ability is not a one-off event.

在这方面，团队的老师帮我下了很大功夫。当时，有三四位不同领域的老师轮番帮我做培训。这个过程有点像做陶塑。先把你的固化思维打碎，然后在重新建模，最后练就一副无懈可击的逻辑思维。

In this regard, the team's advisors have helped me a lot. I attended interview workshops and three or four specialists from different fields took turns to help me with training my thinking. They asked me questions and challenged me like in a real interview. This process is a bit like making pottery. First break your solidified thinking, then re-model, and finally practice an impeccable logical thinking.

除了思维训练，老师还教了我很多面试技巧，甚至是和面试官的眼神交流，表情管理都有一套说法……

In addition to thinking training, the specialists also taught me a lot of interview skills, like looking at the interviewer's eyes and taking time between responses. This was very useful.

但是，一想到那份金光闪闪的剑桥大学的面试邀请，就咬咬牙坚持咯。

剑桥面试题也是出了名的冷门，刁钻。但是，我觉得难道考生不是考官的目的。

最重要的一条建议是：他们倾向于对所选学科非常感兴趣的学生。所以广泛阅读和自己专业相关的书籍，对你的面试会大有裨益。

One of the most important things I learned is that successful students are very interested in their chosen subject. Therefore, extensive reading of books related to your own course will be of great benefit to the interview.

此外，也要时常刷一刷新闻，积累时事。在面试中有很大的可能会被问到对某一时事的看法。

最后，重视数学。数学在面试中占很大部分，如果你申请的是经济专业，在面试中很可能以数学在经济中的应用展开。

In addition, for my economics course, brushing up on the news and accumulate current events was useful. There is a great chance that you will be asked about your opinion in a particular interview. Also, I needed to pay attention to mathematics as it accounted for a large part of my interview.

剑桥的面试有个特点，就是当你卡住的时候可以讲讲自己思考到哪一步了，然后向教授求助。在考场上也会备有纸和笔，让你随时随地计算，缕清思路。

One of the things I learned preparing for interview is that when you get stuck, I knew I could talk to the professor about which steps I was thinking about. If the brain is a little more agile and open, you can answer questions better.

其实这个时候，如果你的脑子里有任何想法浮现的话，最好积极地讲出来，说不定就是你和面试官一拍即合的好机会。

There is always paper and pen available in the examination room, allowing you to calculate anytime, anywhere, and clear your mind. But if there is any idea in the mind, it is best to speak it out actively.

至于剑桥大学为什么录取我？

从来都不存在所谓完美的面试。但是如果你努力思考，处理好压力，自信满满，了解你的主题，做好准备，你就能做好。所以，可能是我拼命思考样子打动了他们？

Why did Cambridge choose me?

There is no perfect interview, but if you think hard, can manage the pressure, have confidence, know your subject, and are prepared, you can do well.So, maybe I did impress them?

通过这次面试，我终于拿到了剑桥的有条件录取。当然，还没完，我的Conditional Offer上明确做出了成绩的要求：两个A*和一个A。

After this interview, I finally got a conditional admission offer to Cambridge. Of course, it’s not over yet and my offer clearly stated the results: Two A*s and one A.

在Charterhouse，我们不是在学习A-level或IB，而是更深入的Pre-U课程。在Pre-U体系中，我们选择3-4个科目，学习内容相对于A-level有所扩展。这次考试要难得多。但我相信我已经准备好了!我将在今年5-6月参加考试，8月会得到最终结果。

At Charterhouse, we are not learning A-level or IB, but a more in-depth qualification: Pre-U. In the Pre-U system, we choose 3 to 4 subjects and the content of learning is extended compared to A-level. The exam will be much more difficult. But I hope I am ready! I will sit my exams in May/June and receive my results in August.

申请机会只有一次，申请过程非常漫长和复杂。我很幸运能够找到愿意帮助我理清每一步，高效完成每一个环节的顾问和专家。我现在只需要集中精力准备Pre-U考试。

There is only one application opportunity and the application process is very lengthy and complicated.
